This Story Has All Of It: Trump Supporters

A New York City decide dominated Wednesday that bars can legally throw out folks sporting Make America Nice Once more hats. This story has all of it: Trump supporters, 9/11, and claims of religious discrimination. Buckle up.

According to the lawsuit filed final March, Greg Piatek, an accountant from Philadelphia, went to a West Village bar in New York to get a drink together with his buddies after they visited the 9/11 memorial, the brand new York Submit stories. Piatek claimed that he was handled unfairly. Finally booted from the bar as a result of he was wearing a purple MAGA hat.

He said the bar supervisor informed him, “Anybody who supports Trump-or believes what you consider-is just not welcome here! And also you need to depart proper now as a result of we won’t serve you!”

So he sued the bar for unspecified damages, claiming the January 2017 incident had “offended his sense of being American.”

In court docket, Piatek’s lawyer tried to make a case for religious discrimination, saying his MAGA hat was his manner of “paying spiritual tribute to the victims of 9/11.” Yeah, that didn’t fly with the Manhattan Supreme Courtroom judge.

The judge threw out the lawsuit, calling the incident a “petty” slight, and never a First Amendment assault on freedom of religion, the Publish reports. Supporting Trump will not be a religious perception. And discrimination based on political beliefs isn’t illegal. Neither is straight-up pettiness.
